(We will Continue) Endorse the Nagano Declaration
Nagano Prefecture and ICLEI Japan invite the local governments and organizations over the world to endorse the Nagano Declaration as a framework to create a sustainable society through achieving SDGs including climate actions.
The Nagano Declaration calls local and national governments to take collaborative actions towards a sustainable society.
The purpose of this declaration is to realize an autonomous decentralized society, with regions, cities, towns and villages working together to achieve the integrated improvement over the environment, economy and society: This concept is named “Circulating and Ecological Economy” in Japan’s fifth basic environmental plan.
The declaration with the list of endorsements were directly handed to Mr Harada Yoshiaki, the Environment Minister of Japan prior to “The G20 Ministerial Meeting on Energy Transitions and Global Environment for Sustainable Growth” in Karuizawa, Nagano, June 15 to 16, 2019. Detailed News is here.
As we have received many interests from both inside and outside of Japan despite the short notice, and as we are receiving many inquiries even after June 13, we have decided to continue our initiative and keep the site open to receive further endorsement for those interested.
Please be noted that this endorsement is intended for local governments and their networks and organizations, research institutes, and international organizations.
