Daring Cities 2024 Bonn Dialogues
Dr. Takemoto, Chair of ICLEI Japan participated on-site at the Daring Cities 2024 Bonn Dialogue in Bonn, Germany. He participated roundtable discussions on the implementation and future prospects of CHAMP, which was launched at COP 28.
On 4 June, Dr. Takemoto participated in a roundtable discussion entitled ‘Preparing for the IPCC AR7 Special Report on Climate Change and Cities’, where he exchanged views on how the voices of cities and local government networks such as ICLEI should be reflected in the preparation of the Special Report on Climate Change and Cities (SRCC) in the IPCC Seveth Assessment Cycle.
The importance of the role of cities in climate change was also reaffirmed through the sharing of facts such as the fact that bottom-up initiatives are being promoted at the local level in Japan’s environmental administration.
