Workshop for the development of Iida Future Design 2028 Plan
Iida City has divided the 12-year planning period for the basic concept of ‘Iida Future Design 2028’ into three phases: the first, middle and late phases, and is currently working on a four-year basic plan. A new basic plan is being prepared for the mid-term plan with a deadline of 2024.
A workshop was held for city officials to learn about the concept and localisation of the SDGs, which is an important perspective in the formulation of the Iida Future Design 2028 Late Phase Plan. Togo Uchida, Executive Director of ICLEI Japan, was invited to speak at this workshop and gave a lecture on overview of ICLEI’s organisation and the history and future of SDG formulation.
Iida City aims to create an environmentally friendly city that make most of local characteristics. During the Q&A session, practical discussions took place on how to incorporate the SDGs into municipal policies to achieve balanced urban development and solve multiple challenges. It is hoped that the lectures provided by ICLEI will assist member local governments to shape planning and policy direction in their respective sectors.
