EU-Japan Subnational Climate Action Workshop
As part of the EU-Japan Green Alliance, the Delegation of the European Union to Japan (EUD), in cooperation with the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the City of Yokohama, organized the EU-Japan Subnational Climate Action Workshop in hybrid format on 29 May and online on 30 May.
The session ‘Progress of the EU and Japan’ initiative to accelerate climate action at local and regional level’ on 29 May, moderated by Togo Uchida, Executive Director of ICLEI Japan, shared EU and Japan’ initiatives toawards zero carbon and climate neutrality.
In addition, Takeharu Yamanaka, Mayor of Yokohama City, Kitakyushu City and Tokorozawa City were among the speakers and presented their case studies. It was a valuable networking and learning opportunity to promote climate change action at the local level, with case studies presented by ICLEI member local governments from abroad and an exchange of views from an international perspective.
