Japanese member cities participate in ICLEI World Congress 2015
Entitled “Sustainable Solutions for an Urban Future,” the Congress gathered over 2,500 delegates from 249 local governments worldwide.
From Japan, six ICLEI member cities, including Kitakyushu City, Kyoto City, Kumamoto City, Sapporo City, Tokyo Prefecture, and Yokohama City, attended the Congress, and presented on their efforts in parallel sessions. For example, Kitakyushu presented on air quality improvement through international environmental cooperation, Kyoto on low carbon city development efforts, Kumamoto on watershed management, Tokyo on its Cap-and-Trade program for reducing GHG emissions, and Yokohama on its Future City initiatives.
