As of November 2023, Katsushika City become a member of ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability. In line with this affiliation, a membership handover ceremony was held at Katsushika City Hall on 25 January 2024, where Kazuhiko Takemoto, Chair of ICLEI Japan handed over the membership certificate to Mayor Katsunori Aoki.

“ICLEI is a global network of local governments from more than 125 countries working together on environmental problems,” said Mayor Katsunori Aoki, Katsushika City. “Katsushika will now cooperate with ICLEI to achieve the Zero Emissions Declaration.”
