The 10th Chubu Environmentally Advanced Five City (TASKI) Summit in Iida to be held online. (7th July)
As a part of the TASKI Project, which is a joint effort by the cities of Tajimi (T), Anjo (A), Shinshiro (S), Kakegawa (K), and Iida (I), the “Chubu Environmentally Advanced Five Cities (TASKI) Summit” is held every year, where mayors and citizens groups from each city gather to exchange opinions. The first summit was held in Anjo City in 2010 with the mayors of the five cities. Since then, the five cities have agreed with general public service in the event of a disaster, held a citizens’ exchange meeting where environmental groups from each city exchanged information, and submitted policy proposals to the Ministry of the Environment. The five cities are working together to link their environmental activities.
The 2021 Summit, which marks the 10th anniversary of the Summit, was held online as a measure to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. After a keynote speech by Mr. Uchida, Executive Director of ICLEI Japan, on “Corona Disaster and Sustainable Society- Development of Local SDGs for the Post-Corona Era” information was exchanged on the future urban development envisioned by the mayors of the five cities under the theme of “Regional Circulation Symbiosis.
