Tokyo Cap-and-Trade Program: All covered facilities achieve their CO2 emission reductions for the first compliance period
On November 16, Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced that close to 1,300 of all covered facilities in Tokyo have achieved CO2 reduction targets for the first compliance period of the Tokyo Cap‒and‒Trade Program, which had a fulfillment deadline of the end of September 2016.
In a press release, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike commented, “Our city has an ambitious goal to reduce CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030 compared to the year 2000. In order to surpass this goal, we will be implementing various programs including the Cap‒and‒Trade Program and assistant measures for small and medium‒sized facilities to further cut CO2 emissions.”
