ICLEI network exchanges

In February, officials from the Environmental Protection Bureau, the Transport Bureau, and the Urban Development Bureau of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, visited Yokohama City and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG), two ICLEI Japan member cities.
In Yokohama City, participants were briefed on Yokohama’s efforts to decarbonize its city. As Kaohsiung is a port city like Yokohama, there was great interest in Yokohama City’s efforts to reduce emissions from its waterfront.
The delegation also visited the TMG, where they were briefed on the Zero Emission Tokyo Strategy. They enthusiastically discussed building measures and strategies for utilizing hydrogen energy, including fuel cell buses.
The Kaohsiung Capacity Centre, ICLEI’s Taiwan office, is located in Kaohsiung City and is actively involved in environmental policy, particularly combating climate change. As ICLEI, we hope to continue to promote this kind of international city-to-city collaboration within the ICLEI network.
