ICLEI World Congress 2021-2022 in Malmo

On 11-13 May, ICLEI World Congress 2021-2022 was held in Malmo, Sweden.

More than 625 participants from 50 countries gathered at that venue in Malmö and around 200 people also participated online. 44% of the participants were representatives of one local and subnational government. Other participants included academics, research institutions, the private sector, civic organizations, and NGOs.
Over three days, 6 high-level dialogues, 26 interactive sessions, 10 online sessions, and 13 mobile workshops were held to demonstrate the power that ICLEI has to deal with climate and natural emergencies and to discuss and exchange ideas on sustainable urban development.

Malmö Commitment was officially launched under the leadership of Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh, Mayor of Malmö and First Vice President of ICLEI. The Malmö Commitment is based on one of ICLEI’s visions – an environmentally just and equitable transition – and is supported by local and subnational governments committed to urban transformation. With this commitment, local and subnational governments prioritize all people and social equality at the core of sustainable development in the region.
