Nagano Prefecture launched the ‘Shinshu Machinaka Green Infrastructure Promotion Plan‘ in 2021 to realize sustainable and attractive urban development. Subsequently, Nagano Prefecture and four cities, including Iida City, jointly developed a ‘Green Infrastructure Regional Vision‘ for each region in 2023.

The regional vision was revised after the 2023 activities. To better manage existing green infrastructure (e.g., roadside trees), more routes eligible for the Forest Tax have been added or extended. In addition, public-private partnership initiatives on maintenance and management have been positioned to achieve sustainable management from a long-term perspective.

The prefecture and the four cities will work together to promote green infrastructure based on this regional vision.
