Mayor of Saitama City speaks at LGMA press conference


On 11 November, at the opening of COP29, a press conference of the Local Governments and Municipal Authorities (LGMA) Constituency, representing cities, regions, and subnational governments was held at the COP29 venue in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The press conference was attended by Wade Crowfoot, Secretary of Natural Resources for California, and Axel Schmidt Grael, Mayor of Niterói, Brazil and chair of the Climate Action Support Portfolio for the ICLEI Global Executive Committee, as well as Hayato Shimizu, Mayor of Saitama City, who, as a member of Urban7 (U7), spoke strongly about the importance of local government climate action.
