Toyota City participated in the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2025

The High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2025 on Sustainable Development was convened from 14 to 23 July at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, United States. The Forum serves as the principal platform for tracking and reviewing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
On the 14th, Mayor Toshihiko Ota of Toyota City participated in the official program concerning SDG Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. He shared the city’s initiatives for preventive care for the elderly, utilizing a new public-private partnership mechanism known as the Social Impact Bond (SIB). Additionally, he introduced the UN-sponsored’ ‘2025 International Mayors Forum‘ on the SDGs Goals, to be held in Toyota City in October 2025.
On the following day, the 15th, Mayor Ōta addressed the side event “Circular Economy for Sustainable and Resilient Coastal and Marine Ecosystems”, hosted by the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD), presenting on the city’s river purification initiatives.
