Calling for Signatories: Asian Circular Cities Declaration (ACCD)
Starting from November 26, 2025, we will welcome local and regional governments in Asia to join the Asian Circular Cities Declaration (ACCD) by signing the declaration.
In response to growing global interest to transition to a circular economy and inspired by the success of the European Circular Cities Declaration, ICLEI Japan, together with collaborating organizations and stakeholders, will create a platform aiming to accelerate local and regional government efforts to transition to a circular economy in Asia tailored to their respective circumstances and strengthen policy capabilities through the sharing of knowledge among participants.
Local and regional governments have a critical role to play in achieving the systemic and transformative change required, and they must work actively with all levels of government and stakeholders from civil society, the private sector, and the research community in this mission.
Local and regional governments who will be part of this will be able to;
- Show leadership in choosing a resource-efficient, low-carbon, and socially responsible development path.
- Demonstrate our commitment to act across our administration.
- Collaborate with a group of like-minded, ambitious local and regional governments.
- Benefit from access to implementation support of expert organizations and networks from across Asia, Europe, and the World.

Those willing to participate, please submit the declaration with the signature by their city representative (governor, mayor, etc.) to ICLEI Japan (📥: [email protected]) by March 31, 2026.
