Learn and act together for a sustainable society. ESD Okayama Award 2023, now open for applications! |
The ESD Okayama Award 2023, which recognizes outstanding ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) activities in Japan and abroad, is now open for applications.
Okayama City and the ESD Okayama Award Steering Board call for initiatives that contribute to the spread of ESD in local communities in Japan and abroad and serve as models for the world. They are looking for projects that educate and develop people to learn from each other and take action toward the creation of a sustainable society and focus on nature and people-centred developments from various perspectives, such as environmental conservation, community development, inheritance of traditional culture, and diversity and inclusion, and more. They look forward to receiving your applications!
- Eligibility: Organizations implementing ESD projects in Japan and abroad.
- Number of Award-Winning Projects: One or Two projects
- Prize: US $3,000 per project
Deadline for Application: 14 July 2023 (Friday), 5 pm (Japanese Standard Time) - Award Ceremony: One representative from the organization(s) implementing the awarded project(s) will be invited to the Award Ceremony in Okayama, Japan and requested to present the project. The scheduled date is 23 November 2023 (Thursday).

Associate Partnership is available to non-governmental organizations, universities, state and national government agencies and not-for-profit research institutions. The purpose of Associate Partnership is to facilitate dialogues between local governments and these partners, to provide knowledge transfer in line with ICLEI’s Mission and Charter, and an avenue for which partners can support ICLEI’s work and mandate.
