On 26 November, the ninth East Asia Regional Executive Committee’s (RexCom) Meeting took place virtually, hosted by ICLEI East Asia. This was the first time to hold the annual governance meeting online with the newly elected RexCom Members of 2021-2024.
Mayor Kadokawa of Kyoto City made opening remarks as chairman and reported that he is focusing on revision of the Global Warming Countermeasures Ordinance in cooperation with citizens and businesses toward 2050 decarbonization.
The new RexCom members and advisors introduced their commitment and efforts to support ICLEI’s development and operations in the region, and presented their plans and proposals to drive ICLEI agenda in the region despite the challenges brought by the global pandemic.
The meeting helped consolidate the regional strategy and work plan in 2021 to be implemented by the joint actions of ICLEI offices under the guidance and support of RexCom. ICLEI Secretary General Gino Van Begin and Founding Director of ICLEI East Asia Secretariat Konrad Otto-Zimmermann also virtually joined the meeting.
