On 4 September, a special webinar ‘Japan’s Transition Bonds as Opportunity for Other Countries’ was held as the first in a series of Green Finance Innovation organized by ICLEI. (the recording is coming soon).
This webinar focused on green finance initiatives in Japan. Togo Uchida, Executive Director of ICLEI Japan, gave an overview of green finance in Japanese local governments, and ICLEI member, Kyoto City presented the status of Kyoto’s green bond issue and how the funds are being used.
Japanese financial institutions also shared the latest trends in green finance, providing a good opportunity to learn about the forefront of green finance in Japan.
