On 21 October, a Malaysian delegation from the cities of Penang, Kuching North and Kuala Lumpur, which has a partnership with Saitama City, and the University Technology Malaysia (UTM), which coordinates their visit to Japan, visited Saitama City.

During courtesy visits by Mayor Kamarulzaman of Kuala Lumpur, Mayor Rajendran of Penang, and Mayor Haji Hilmy of Kuching North, Saitama Mayor Hayato Shimizu expressed his hope that the visit to Saitama City would also lead to cooperation with Penang and Kuching North, and that they will learn from each other to accelerate their decarbonisation efforts.

After a courtesy visit, the delegation toured a ‘smart home community’ and other facilities designed to reduce environmental impact and energy security.
Saitama City will continue to promote initiatives for the realisation of a zero-carbon city in dialogue with other cities in Japan and abroad.
