TOKYO: ICAP Tokyo Symposium 2017

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) will hold the ICAP Tokyo Symposium 2017 jointly with the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) to share examples of effective climate change countermeasures that have been promoted inside and outside Japan, including emissions trading schemes.

TMG introduced the Tokyo Cap-and-Trade Program targeting large-sized facilities in FY2010, and since then it has made great achievements.

Since the Paris Agreement took effect, both developed and developing countries have strengthened climate change countermeasures to achieve their common objective, and efforts have been accelerated in Asia as well.

At the symposium, ICAP members and policy-makers from local governments in Asian countries, as well as in Japan, will gather to share achievements of advanced projects or know-how with a view to disseminating and expanding emissions trading schemes.

About ICAP
ICAP was established in 2007 with the purpose of establishing international cooperation in the dissemination of emissions trading schemes by countries and public organizations and sharing technical discussions and opinions. Thirty-one countries and states, many of whom are from Europe and North America, have joined (as of May 1, 2017), and Tokyo became a member for the first time as a city in 2009.
