COP TOTTORI 2025 – Tottori Prefecture Town Hall COP Successfully Held
On December 20, 2025, Tottori Prefecture successfully hosted the COP TOTTORI 2025 – Tottori Prefecture Town Hall COP event, attracting approximately 400 participants from both within and outside the prefecture, including representatives from regional global warming prevention activity centers and students engaged in environmental initiatives.
The event aimed to help attendees understand climate change as a personal issue and motivate them to make positive changes in their daily lives. Through a lively mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and breakout sessions focused on “Clothing,” “Food,” and “Housing,” participants were encouraged to think about practical actions they can take to reduce their environmental impact.
The event also spotlighted the essential role of youth in advancing climate solutions. Youth participants active both within and outside the prefecture came together for a youth exchange session to share information about their ongoing initiatives. In addition, a report was presented on the student exchange program between Tottori Prefecture and the City of Turku, Finland, which has been implemented since fiscal year 2024.
The sessions provided a valuable opportunity for young people with shared aspirations to connect. Participating students commented that it was a meaningful chance to build connections with students from other local governments and to learn about their initiatives.
In 2026, Tottori Prefecture plans to hold an event focusing specifically on youth initiatives as part of the Tottori Prefecture Town Hall COP. The event will aim to facilitate the sharing of youth-led case studies and explore concrete opportunities for collaboration among young people.
