ICLEI Japan Activity Report 2025
ICLEI Japan has published its Annual Report 2025, which highlights the projects, events, and collaborative activities carried out with its members and partners in Japan and around the world during fiscal year 2025.
In FY2025, ICLEI Japan collaborated with local governments, including the City of Yokohama, to establish the Asian Circular Cities Declaration (ACCD), a new initiative to promote intercity cooperation across Asia on the circular economy and resource circulation.
ICLEI Japan also supported Japanese local governments’ participation in major international conferences, including UNFCCC COP30, Ramsar COP15, and Daring Cities 2025. Through these efforts, Japanese local governments were able to share their innovative sustainability initiatives with the international community.
In addition, ICLEI Japan promoted Town Hall COPs, locally led climate dialogue events inspired by the UNFCCC COP process. Town Hall COPs provide a platform for local voices to contribute to global climate action. In 2025, more than 50 Town Hall COPs were held across 25 countries, including events organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tottori Prefecture in Japan.
