“ESD Okayama Award 2025” Award Ceremony & Award-Winning Projects’ Presentation

The winners of the ESD Okayama Award 2025, hosted by the ESD Okayama Award Steering Board and Okayama City, which recognizes exceptional ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) initiatives worldwide, have now been announced.
The award ceremony and initiatives’ presentation by invited representatives of the organizations that have implemented winning projects took place in Okayama City, Japan, on 21 October 2025, as part of the 14th Global RCE Conference (21-23 October; hosted by the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability, RCE Okayama and Okayama City).

The ceremony was attended by approximately 140 people, including representatives of the Regional Centres of Expertise on ESD (RCEs) from Japan and abroad, as well as members of the general public.

Following a rigorous selection process, two projects were selected from a record 346 entries from 81 countries worldwide as winners: “EduMobile: The Ombombo Mobile Environmental Education“, in which EduVentures Trust conducts experiential, open-air classes across Namibia; and the CUNbre Territorial Learning Incubator for Youth-Led Sustainable Solutions, in which National Unified Corporation of Higher Education provides educational and entrepreneurial support across Colombia.

Mr. Masao Omori (Okayama City Mayor) and Dr. Hirofumi Abe (Chair of the Okayama ESD Promotion Commission and the ESD Okayama Award Steering Board) presented certificates of commendation and prize money to the representatives of the winning projects.
