Participation in the Urban Futures Hub Workshop: IIASA-Japan Cities project
As part of the joint research project on “Climate Change and Cities” conducted by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment in collaboration with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), to contribute to the development of the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities (SR-Cities), a workshop titled Urban Futures Hub Workshop: IIASA-Japan Cities Project was held on 9–10 February 2026 at IIASA headquarters.
At the workshop, renowned experts involved in the SR-Cities report—including Dr. Debra Roberts, Coordinating Lead Author—participated in discussions on perspectives and challenges needed for the report.
From Japan, representatives from the City of Yokohama, ICLEI Japan Chair Kazuhiko Takemoto, and Executive Director Togo Uchida attended the workshop, contributing to dialogue on the project’s outcomes and future directions.
The outcomes of the workshop are expected to provide valuable input to the SR-Cities report.
